I Got Stung I wrote it for my then lead guitarist, the late Richard Heath. He played a trash lead that was so dirty, it shoulda been illegal. Unfortunately, Richard was killed in our 1982 wreck. So, I sang it and Little Nickie Vance Manousos, our finesse lead played it like Richard would have... and did a killer job. The song sports my show-off lyrics where I'm just having a great time playing with words. I am proud of the playful and sexy lyric. It would be great even today as a pop rock tune. Jackie and Jill I became friends with the manager of The Fair, the most popular men's club at the time. It was the late 70s and he was just part of the crazy times. He was living with a rather lovely girl. Well, she came home and caught him there with another girl. Guess she just couldn't take the pain and wound up taking her own life. When he told me the story, it seemed more saddness than I could express into music. But I couldn't stop thinking about it. The whole event was so tragic. It reminded me of the 50s songs: "Teen Angel," "Tell Laura I Love Her" or "Last Kiss." Because I felt that life should go on, I did it in this surf-punk style. It seemed just too sad to do any other way. Please forgive me if it seems flip. The great trash lead guitar is Troy Powers and the out of sight lead vocal is Vickie Valiantette, the amazing Lisa Layne who now has her own show in Branson. Though I wrote the music and words at the same time on this one, I really wanted to show my lyrical dexterity. Some may find it corny, but I like the "How do you do what you do what you do to me?" line. Sometimes when I see a pretty girl, I go into a fantasy of enjoying her beauty so very much.
